For example, if a scholarship is given to an African-American due to his race, the individual who does not get the scholarship and knows the reason is due to race will learn to hate African Americans. The same is true if the scholarship is only give to “whites”, then the African American will hate the “whites” for depriving them of the scholarship. This causes discord and disharmony.
The idea behind every discriminative act is the assumption that, the person or group we are in favor of will yield more positive results. The most devastating fact is stereotype individuals or groups merely on the basis of pre-conceived assumption. Like, in the western world, all Asians are considered to be cheaters. That’s not true. We cannot stereotype simply because he or she belongs to a particular class or race.
True diversity is needed not only in employment, but also it must be part of every university. Scholarships should be given for the intended purposes, not just because the university is required to give so many Native American scholarships or so many African Americans.
